Technically they are the same fig. However, there is a lot of confusion because of synomyms (Calvert, Verdalle, Coeur, Verdale, etc.)and other varieties with similar appearance (such as Verdone). There are physical differences though if you know what you're looking for. The flavor issue is subject to cultivation practices and location. Hope this helps.

I am not sure but I picked up a verte from Bills figs in N.J. and had heard good things about it from members in my zone but last year it split real bad for me. Taste was not as good as I expected. Will give it 1 more year.

I have a fig I bought from the California rare fruit growers that they called "Srawberry Fig", but someone told me its real name is Verte. It is extremely slow growing, is almost the same size as when I planted it five years ago. But for such a small tree it does make a lot of delicious tasting figs.
The figs are yellowish green on the outside and strawberry color on the inside.

I became interested in Verte after seeing its description on the Rolling River site. I really like what I've read about the Bataglia Green, but wonder if it would be difficult to ripen in zone 5b, as it seems to be a late season fig.

MK:If you have a greenhouse to start them inside,earlier,wich will happen,if you do,then Bataglia will ripe.
If not,all related figs like Verte,Green Ischia,Paradiso White,Monstruese de Lipari, and Bataglia will have a hard time getting ripe in zone 5.
