I love scabiosa. I wish I could get the blue one to stay in my garden. Started the blue from seed but out of 5 plants only 1 came back for me this year. The yellow one has reseeded itself nicely here. TFS your pics.

I love scabiosa, too, and always have blue, but can't keep the yellow! I grew the burgundy once, and loved it, but it bloomed so late that it was hardly worth the effort.

If you want a good, dependable red/burgundy, give Knautia a try...there are different heights/sizes...all of which have been very dependable for me. Below is 'Mars Midget' from my garden last week. You can deadhead if you want...but I really love the look of the little spherical seedheads!

Is that 'Rozanne' geranium? I have some 'Mars Midget' seed, any growing tips?

I will remember to save seed, didn't even think of that until I'm reading here that it reseeds. In this particular small bed, I like to plant something different every year.

Yes, that's 'Rozanne' in the background...she's quite the plant...if only every plant was so eager to please! I would say winter-sowing is probably the best bet. I grew some 'Melton's Pastels' from seed this past winter. They didn't have the best germination rate, but those that did germinate all survived being transplanted and are growing vigorously...though they have yet to bloom, might have to wait for next year for that.

Love the scabiosa (my spell checker changed that to scabies -- got to watch! LOL). The combo that Scotty has with the Rozanne is stunning!

I have trouble with the rabbits eating my scabiosa. The blue perennial blooms for me as early as March and is amazing...until the bunnies get to it. I'd love to grow the knautia in so many places. sigh.

The Knautia do reseed quite a bit for some (I guess they are knaut-y in those gardens, ha, ha) yet hardly at all for others.
