Belinda's Dream Rose! Get's up to 7 feet tall but you can easily prune it lower. Almost always has blooms. Never needs spraying. Perfect backdrop.

OK I was on drugs when I posted the pics. My back faces southwest and the front faces northeast. The front has robellini palms as book ends. I hope that makes sense. I am not sure what I said above!! mumble mumble where's my meds and cane????

Careful with copperleaf in a mass planting as they usually freeze down to near the ground in zone 9 every winter...

Arboricola is my absolute favorite backdrop plant because after all the hurricanes it withstood salt near the ocean, the wind, and goes through drought like nothing else. You have to trim it periodically, but it remains full even to the ground.

Then you can plant color all in front of it!

A lady down the street from me uses Justicia spicigera as a hedge and it's very nice. It does get pouty if there is NO water, but it handles everything else well. It's easy to gt started from cuttings, too, so one plant can turn into a hedge quickly. It is fuller in full sun, but will take quite a bit of shade before it gets too thin.
I have a bit and I'm training it to fill in between me and the nasty neighbor.

Shiny Leaf Viburnum. Does not look unkempt when not trimmed, super dark shiny leafs and after established does very weel with neglect
