canning weights & measurements

Can someone please help me understand (dumb it down) the different weights/measures that are called for in canning recipes???! I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around x quarts of something vs y pounds of something else. Do 2 quarts (16 oz X 2) = 2 pounds (16 oz X 2)? Pounds are easy, I just my scale... but quarts.... is that 32 oz weight or 32 oz packed into a known quart container (volume). I'm so confused.

This site is NOT normally my "go to" site, but they have a reasonably accurate chart for converting raw produce into yields of canned or frozen finished products. As always, these are guidelines, not written in stone. Yields will always vary based on your processing techniques, condition and type of produce, etc.
