Is Anyone Else Crazy? (Martha Stewart Magazine)

I just received the latest iris news e-mail from Schreiner's and I thought I'd mention something I was very happy to see and ask a question while I'm at it.

They wrote that they will be featured in the May issue of Martha Stewart Living (available April 11th) and it's got me wondering.

I wrote to Martha Stewart's show idea group and tried to get them to go to the '06 national in Portland. Is anyone else crazy enough to have done that too?

I know it sounds far-fetched to think I could have had anything to do with it and I am certain that anyone can recognize the qualitys of the Schreiner company without some goof like me pointing them in their direction. It just makes me wonder.

I realize that was almost 2 years ago, but I also know that most magazines do their layouts a year in advance.

Well I'm sure it's just another of my delusions of grandeur, but I wanted to at least mention it because I will not miss that issue.

A few years ago MS did a show and Magazine follow up on dividing plants: irises, potatoes for seed planting, day lilies etc. She had a dry solution rub to paste on the areas to protect the exposed/cut section of plant from bugs and disease. Does anyone have this recipe. Because MSL Magazine is clueless? ?

Did not see it. People have used powdered cleansers like Comet which contain some dry bleach to disinfect rhizomes after rot has been removed. Dry sulfur has been used similarly I think. I have only used the Ajax powder and it works.

Many recommend that newly obtained rhizomes be given a 10 minute soak in a bleach solution to kill any pathogens before planting them in your garden; A proper solution for disinfection is 1 part regular liquid Chlorine bleach in 10 parts water. Let the rhizomes dry out before planting. Do NOT use this for any beardless Iris.
