Planting Limelights in Fall, zone 5?

Hi,

I can't seem to find the answer to this in a quick search.

I live in zone 5, MI. I'd like to add some more limelights to my yard but am not sure if this is recommended as a fall planting due to my zone.

Any advice?

I am in zone 5b and I planted a few paniculata hydrangeas (which Limelight belongs to) in the fall in previous years, and I had no problem with them at all.

I live N.E. Michigan near Alpena. I have planted paniculatas in Sept, they did great. I put extra mulch around them the first year.

I have two...both planted in the early fall. Both are doing great, and quickly becoming my favorite hydrangeas.

Go for it, fall is shrub and tree planting time in Michigan. I have the best luck with stuff planted then. Roots grow until the ground freezes, even if the leaves fall off. Water well until the fall rains get going.
