Help save our Maple

User

Urgent:

We just discovered one of our Japanese maple trees had been

broken off at the trunk/ground level. (no known cause).

We'd sure like to save it, if it's possible.

Would it develop any roots if we place the trunk in water or

any other suggestions to try and save it or________???

More background and details are attached below.

Could use any and all help or suggestions.

Pls reply to:

Many thanks for your help.

Bob

BACKGROUND

Japanese Maple tree -- appr 4-6 yrs old... had been very

healthy although one major limb had died back, we were just

about to prune it.

The rest of the tree and leaves all look healthy.

SIZE/HEIGHT - 5-6 ft tall -- trunk apprx 2-3" in diameter

LOCATION AND WEATHER

This is in Northern California, near the South end of SF

Bay... Silicon Valley.

Good soil and great growing conditions all year long for

almost everything. The area gets good watering as well as

plenty of sunshine throughout the day.

This year we had an unusually wet winter but summer is upon us.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

Unknown. We have 12-15 Maples of different varieties around

the property for close to 20 years all without any problems.

Everything looks healthy otherwise.

Guess it's possible something could have caused the trunk/

root area to rot but unable to see anything, one way or

another.
