Squash Blossoms

You know, I realize that the squash family have both male and female flowers, with the female bearing the fruit. Well I am growing a few hills of Lakota squash, and my female flowers are starting to bloom before the male flowers have even turned yellow. My question is probably retorical, but will the squash develope if they are not fertilized by the male flowers? Any ideas or past experience? Thanks, Paul Robinette.
