I've been growing (more like neglecting) my queen palm since 2004. I really dont take very good care of it, but it never has problems indoors. I have even left it in my garage and it had no problems with that either. When it goes outside the fronds that have grown indoors are often fried from the sun so my queen palm looks pretty bad until about August or September.
I dont think laying it on it's side during the wintertime is the best idea since they do like water. I have let mine dry out completely, but it really prefers to only dry out a little indoors.
I'll be trying my Adonidia indoors this winter for the first time so I'm not sure what to expect, but Im sure that spider mites will be a problem with that one (it was also a problem for my queen palm).
Both palms will like as much sun as you can give them, even if they dont get direct sun, at least if they get bright light, it will be better than nothing.

Queen, I do not overwinter inside the house, they are too big now so they go into the garage standing upright. They get light though. I have them in 20 gallon tubs where they will stay. I water these very, very seldomly in winter. Adonidia can be very temperamental for me. They overwinter inside the house, in basement under fluorescent lighting. Don't let these dry out they are not too drought tolerant. Because I water these frequently, they are in very sandy soil. Still, sometimes the leaves will just start browning but I suspect it's when a watering has been missed.
