This plant is not a S.greggii.
I have seen it sold as S.x Neovo Leon, S Navajo "Dark Purple"
,S.muelleri and S.coahuilensis.
To me these plants are the same plant. Sorry but this has been my observation for quite some time. S x Neovo leon was the first listing of this plant back in the 1990's as new Salvias were coming out of Mexico. There still needs some work on this Section of Salvias by a trained Botanist to get proper clarification. A greggii it is not.A hybrid most likely.

Whatever it is, it is nice. I am not much of a id-er, nor as hot as I am, do I care at this time of year. All I want to know is is it thirty or can it take heat in excessive amounts.

I have two forms of this one pink and the other just like this. They need shade here with a little western sun.
Not real drought tolerant . Good soil makes them set in well
and begin their root run (looking for a cool place to hang out).

In Australia it is salvia coahuiliensis, salvia muelleri
is a hot pink and totally different salvia altogether.Salvia navajo was a series that Richard put out if I am not mistaken, salvia greggii navajo purple it is different from coahuiliensis in foliage, I am not familiar with Neova Leon proably an alias for one of the above:)

I will stay away from this plant. "NOT" drought tolerant scares me, especially this year.
