Mellen,
Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday, Mellen!! Hope it is extra special. I'm planning to send my seeds for the swap on Monday. I'm so glad to have so many bloomin' friends. : ) Treasa

Happy Birthday Mellen!!!!Have a good one I'll be sending my seeds Monday
Patty

First of all, thank you for all of the early BD wishes. VEE, did you start this? Yes, Trish, Carol is jealous that I have Depends and she doesn't. Huh? What did I just say??? Actually, I sent her one in one of her "monthly" boxes from another swap that we are on together. When I turned one of the big _ 0's, one of my sisters bought me some turning old gifts. One of them was a box of Depends. I still have them and gift them to people at the appropriate times. My then 18 year-old niece was wallking around with one on her head. We are kind of a crazy/weird group in my family. I'm talking about a couple of my sisters--NOT my DH. We embarass him a lot.

Today I received seeds from Amy and Theresa. They both sent some great seeds. Thank you ladies. Theresa thank you for sending the extras for "the pot." Amy, thank you for the very pretty flower memo pad. I have it right by the computer here to use for notes. Theresa, thank you for the beautiful journal. I love the saying on the front, "Everyday in every way, miracles are everywhere." I have decided to use if to record and keep track of only my daylilies from now on. Instead of having them listed in about 3 different notebooks, I will compile them all into this one journal.

Those of you who have written that your seeds are on the way, I will let you know when they arrive. This swap officially closes in 2 hours Central Standard Time. At this point it looks like we have ABOUT 17 playing in this swap.

The deadline for mailing seeds to me is Friday, April 14. Of course, if I receive everyone's seeds before that time, I will "go to work" on them and get them split up and sent back to you.

Well, Trish, here goes. I'm going to try posting one of my new signatures. Talk to you all later.

OOO-La-La!! Aren't we flashy Mellen!!
LOVE IT!!
Trish

Folks, this swap is officially CLOSED. As posted earlier, the cutoff date and time was Friday, March 31, 11:59 PM. This is NOT an April Fool's joke!

The deadline for having your seeds to me is Friday, April 14, 4:23 PM. Although, knowing most of you, I'm betting it won't take that long. I think we have a wonderful group who are part of this seed swap, and I'm guessing you will be very prompt with your sending. If something comes up, PLEASE let me know ASAP.

So, Trish, you thought that was flashy, huh? I have another that is a bit more toned down. How's this?

I'll put my seeds together tonight or tomorrow, and send them out on Monday. I wanted to wait until the swap closed, and all the 'want' lists were in. Just in case I had any seeds someone else was looking for.

Mellon. while both signatures were pretty....I vote for flashy & trashy. !!!! Lotsa Bling. Marsha

Mellen there are a few seeds I have from a few lists that are a little shy of the seeds count since they are seeds someone wants is it OK to be a little shy ? Patty

In my opinion, I think it is better to receive even just a few seeds of something on a wish list, than to not have a wish fulfilled at all. Sounds good to me, Patty. : )
Wow, the red signature almost smacked me right on the cheek!!!! What an eye opener!! LOL : ) I have to go through wish lists yet. Treasa

Does anyone want Castor beans, 6 ft tall red leaf, tropical looking ornamental...... not for eating??
How about watermelon red sweet and juicy..... perfect for eating.
Patty or anybody, I agree with Treasa on the count for wish list seeds. Some special seeds only come about 5 to a pack

Patty, I agree that receiving just a few seeds of a wish would be great!

It was a beautiful day here today. A bit of sun and clouds with a high in the upper 40's. DH and I went and picked up a used queen-sized bed in a waterbed frame with headboard and drawers for next to nothing. We're putting it in DS's room in the basement. He can use it whenever he comes home, and we have more sleeping room for overnight guests.

Sounds like we may get some more thunderstorms today. Thursday night we had some really strong winds go through here and got some much needed rain. Blew down a bunch of trees in many places(not at our place), blew metal roof pieces off hog buildings and carried them over a mile...Saw that on the road a mile south of us.

I finally saw some crocuses blooming here. Looks like some daffodil buds are up, and the tulips seem to grow before my eyes. The wonders of spring as it moves northward!

My seeds will be on the way out to you tomorrow :))

hope everyone's had a safe & fun weekend :))
nice job mary ellen .

susie

Hey Ladies, Looks like we have a birthday girl in our midst today!!!! Happy Birthday to REMY!!! I wish I had all of the pics and flashy stuff to post, but I will leave that to the rest of you. Just want you to know, Remy, that you are wished the best birthday ever!

Mellen

Awe, Thanks for remembering Mellen!
I spent the afternoon potting new plants, so I guess that's a good birthday, lol.
I went out yesterday with my grandmother, godmother/cousin, and aunt to the casino. We had a fancy meal and lost money in the slots: )
Remy

I need to update and thank those who have sent seeds and gifts this week. I will do it in the order received-

Marsha--Thank you for the beautiful notecards. I think I will frame them instead of use them. They are just too unique and special.

Remy--Thank you for the different notecards that look just like old-fashioned seeds packets. I plan to frame yours, too, and hang them. Yours are also just too beautiful and special to use. And something for my birthday? Silly you! But it is so beautiful! I have never seen a recipe booklet made out of what looks like homemade paper with a raised imprint of an angel on it. Absolutely a treasure!

Susie--One of our overall hostesses and secretary--Have you been going to pottery painting school? I love the mug with my name "Mellen" on it along with the light blue flowers. It is a treasure forever and ever! Truly overwhelming! Thank you for the key holder box. The gardening motiff painted on the outside door is so cute along with the little tools attached to it. It will be hung and used somewhere near the the door going to the garage. Thank you also for the beautiful red dinnerplate dahlia and the yellow glad bulbs. Susie, you are always so generous that it just humbles me.

Trish--Thank you for the new gardening gloves! I was badly needing a new pair. I always like to start the season with a brand new, fresh pair of gloves, and you have provided!!! Love the color, too. Green with white polka dots. That's me!

Vee/Carol--Great BD Card. Ladies, the whole front of the card is just the face of this cat with the biggest smirk on its face and a yellow feather hanging out the side of its mouth. No words on the front. Inside it says, "It's your birthday, Be Bad. Be very bad." LOL Now isn't that our Veeja? I bet when you found that card, you were just laughing your head off. I would have been if I were you. That is your signature saying. LOVE it!!! Now, I thank you for the Stargazer lily bulbs. I hope I have better luck with yours than with the ones I planted last year. The mini memo pad and pen is the greatest. Did you get an extra for yourself and open it up? Perfect for the purse. The Joshua's lifestyle collectible package was interesting. How do I get the hose to work? Thanks for everything my friend.

Debby--Thank you for the wonderful plant stakes. I have looked everywhere for that size and canNOT find them. Are you willing to share where you got them? They will be used up by this week-end!

Everyone who has sent seeds so far has been sending a wonderful variety. Sooo many different kinds with no duplicates that I can remember off the top of my head. There are a number of wishes being fulfilled, too!!! I have a LOT of seeds so I hope I can fulfill some wishes, too.

Well, I need to get to bed. You are all a wonderful group of people. Mellen/Mary Ellen

Happy Birthday Remy, is it your 60th?Hope you had a great one. Mellen have my seeds arrived yet?Carol

Happy Birthday, Remy!!!!!!!! : ) Carol, how can Remy be 60????????? That would mean that her grandma and aunt are about 100. I've never been to a casino, but do 100 year olds go there? ; ) Treasa

Happy Birthday Remy! You have to have a cake, LOL.

Mellen,
Wow, the seeds arrived quickly!
Menards carries the plant markers in all misc. sizes.

My seeds went in the mail yesterday, sorry for the 'lateness' hope it gets there in time! I did forget to put my 'address' inside the envelope, so hope that doesn't cause any problems!

Blessed Be,
Carrie Ann

Hi Remy happy birthday my grandson scotty was 4 yesterday so I will always remember your birthday!!! Patty

REMY!! Best wishes for the happiest of birthdays!! CELEBRATE!!

Thanks for the Birthday wishes everybody!

Lol, Well, if my other grandmother was still alive, she would be 106! But no, I'm not 60! My grandgrandmother is 84, and my aunt is 85 so they do let pretty old broads into the casino. I'm not sure what the cut off age is, lol.

Patty, He's got a great birthday: )
Remy

I only knew one grandma, because my other one was only 33 when she died, so my mom grew up without a mother. My other grandma made it to 91, but if still alive, she'd be 106.

Have to tell you about a humorous thing that happened this morning. LOL My son brought me some great tasting coffee beans for me to try, for fresh coffee. LOL He said, "And don't plant them!" ; ) Treasa

happy birthday remy. hope it's a great one.

lol treasa, sounds like my son. i think you should plant one just for the heck of it. put the planter in his room!

maybe one of the siggy enthusiasts could make me one? i have this from carol from a few years back. she needs updating!

mellen dear, you never answered me. is it too late to get things to you if i mail this weekend? i don't know your cut off. i wasn't participating, but if you need or want more seeds, i would be happy to send. PLMK :)

i have a couple of tulips - i think they are called black night or something similar that i was so annoyed never bloomed last year - planted 5 - and i noticed yesterday 2 are beginning to bud. not exactly black, but very close.

be well, happy blooms
maryanne/earthly

Hello again,

Carrie Ann, I have your address. No sweat!

Maryanne, Sent you an answer. THANK YOU for sending seeds to share with the group!!! And you are not even a player this month. What a super group overall group we have.

Deb, thanks for the info on where to find the plant stakes. There is a Menards about 25 miles away. I will look next time I am there.

UPDATE: More seeds arrived today!

Jenell/Lunamoon--Thank YOU for the garden gloves--my FAvorite light blue color with one of my very favorite flowers covering them--roses. Almost too pretty to use, but I WILL use them. VERY much appreciated. Thank you, too, for the great extra seeds. How are you and your newest little one getting along???

uptreasa--Thank you for the tomato seeds! I have heard so many good things about them taste-wise that I am very excited to give them a try. What a beautiful color of earrings--the color of the greenest grass in the shape of butterflies. They will get a LOT of wear. Wow! What an eclectic variety of seeds. I have set some aside 'cuz I have to google them to see what they are before I distribute them. All part of the fun of hosting a seed swap.

Just a reminder that the deadline to have your seeds to me is next Friday, April 14. Try your best to have them here by then. Thank you all for your support and encouragement. Mary Ellen/Mellen

Hi Mellen, I cheated a bit and stuck the seeds into the April box when I mailed it today. So much going on here and that was just one less to handle.
Conf#03052710000317652651 I got to the PO five minutes before closing but they said it would go today. Hope so.
BB

Hi Mellen
My seeds will be going out on Monday! You are doing a wonderful job with this swap!!

Thanks, Jan, will let you know when they get here.

Am so glad this week at school is over! My teaching partner took the week off to be with her daughter in WI who just had twin baby girls. Such a blessing and so exciting. So had a teacher-trained sub in her room who was really doing a great job with all of the kids even the 1/3 of ours who have major behavior issues. Wed. the principal pulls her out to work in the office cuz the secretary is gone til Friday. New sub is not teacher trained--anyone can now get a sub license with just a few hours of training and get a sub job. Poor lady didn't know what hit her. Ended up with most of the behavior kids in my room along with my own plus my para-educator that I have was pulled all week for state testing monitoring. I slept late today.

Everyone else have a good week? Mellen

I just finished making Eggplant Parmesan! Two big eggplants worth. It took me all afternoon. So I needed to sit down and look at the computer, lol.
I'm looking at the seed trade page and then I'm thinking am I mad?!! I have to stop. I'm in the swap. I'm like an addict.

Mellen, You would have a good old time swapping stories with my Godmother. She just retired from teaching middle school math last year. Sometimes she would have me on the phone and just vent.

Ok, got to go pot up Iris that just arrived from Texas. Between the winter sowing bottles and all the pots that are accumulating from southern state trades, my new neighbors have got to think I'm insane, lol.
Remy

Susie, I wondered where you were? I thought maybe you were out playin' Bingo or something. I never dreamed you were in the hospital again! Please continue to take really good care of yourself. You are such a wonderful lady! By the way, thank you for putting together all of our addresses. I have printed mine and put it in a folder just for this year-long swap. Now--how do I make sure I don't misplace the folder.......

UPDATE: pattygrow5--I received your seed package in yesterday's mail. WOW! What a bunch of seeds and wishes that you fulfilled. Plus, I want to thank you for the beautiful friendship book and the note that you sent. I feel the same. : )

Today is partly sunny with temps "maybe in the high 50's to low 60's. But with the breeze, it feels chilly outside. Still coat, hat, and glove weather to me. I checked my WS jugs, etc. last night, and they need to be watered. That is what I will be doing after I get done here. Plus I am going to go start sowing annuals. I've been reading on the WSing forum that it is not too late so I will go ahead.

If any of you have any questions or concerns, please feel to ask. Have a beautiful evening and week. Mellen/Mary Ellen

Hello ladies and...too bad no gents here. I don't remember. DID we ever have any gentlemen sign up for our bigger group? Anyway...I DO DIgress, eh?

UPDATE:

Carrie Ann, I received your package today. Thank you for the yummy smelling vanilla bean simmering waffle bar. I like the smell of vanilla VERY much. Thank you also for the very pretty wind chimes. Pink with silver etching--just beautiful. I didn't put them out today after school, though, as the wind was reeealy blowing, and I was afraid something would happen to them. I will see what tomorrow holds. I googled the brodiaea Queen Fabiola bulbs that you sent. I was really clueless.(what's new sometimes) They look like my favorite color of blue!!! THANK you! I esPECially loved your letter. So newsy and sweet. Plus a nice selection of seeds to divide between our friends.

Beth, your seeds are here, too, along with a number of fulfilled wishes. I want to thank you for the darling little soft brown puppy with the dark brown ears and wearing BUNNY EARS! It is so darn cute! Poor thing is trying to lug around this clear carrot filled with jelly bean eggs.

Patty, I forgot to thank you for the seeds that you sent to me-tall green nicotiana and milk chocolate foxglove. I am absolutely THRILLED!!!

As I have said to the rest of you, I think you will also be happy when you see what seeds you will be getting, too.

Since this thread is so close to 100, I believe I will be starting back at 1 sometime this evening. I need to compose a new intro. then I will post a list of who is in the seed swap along with whose seeds have arrived here and who has yet to send. See you elsewhere! Mary Ellen/Mellen
