Growing Tomatoes

Table top tomatoes?

Hi

I don't have much space in the garden for vegetables, so I'm looking into what I can plant in containers.

The cherry tomatoes are too huge and my last attempt at a sort of "patio-size" in the ground ended up a feast for the slugs.

Home Depot is selling "table top" tomatoes that are only identified as lycopersicon, which isn't very helpful.

They're in six inch pots and already have fruit and lot of blossoms.

Does anyone have any experience with this? It's still early in the season, but something that small I can take inside at night until things warm up overnight.

There's a variety called "Tiny Tim" that only gets 12 inches high. Could it be something like that?

I have Red Robins that I started last fall, could that be what they are? They are only about 12" high. I was hoping for winter tomatoes, didn't happen. However, I have been getting fresh tomatoes from them for a few weeks now, 2 months earlier. They taste great.

Well ,if you have a 5 gallon container you can choose many different varieties of smaller ,bush ,compact,dwarf,plants .With a large enough (15-25 gal) container you are unlimited in your choices .
Different technics are needed for container growing.
