What kind of Grass Is This?

My dormant and dull gray Zoysia grass lawn is covered with scattered patches of a pretty bright green unknown type of grass that grows in clumps 12-18" tall if not mowed down. What kind of grass (or weed) might it be? It actually looks better than the Zoysia does now.

I don't know what it is, but do remember someone from Houston posting a while back about some kind or nasty invasive grass in the area. I did a quick search and haven't found that post yet but will continue to look for it.

A photo might help identify it.

If it's green now then it's probably a cool-season grass like annual ryegrass or bluegrass. Based on the size, I'd say ryegrass, but you'd have to see the seedhead to know for sure. Some people plant those grasses to have a green lawn throughout winter, but that also means you have to mow throughout winter!
