It gives me the impression of a hybrid between a pink-flowered Begonia semperflorens and a Fuchsia and an Impatiens!

I, too, have noticed violet flowers closing up at night. I can't remember the species off-hand, but it was an effect which lasted only for the first few days since the flower opened. Does the same apply to V. rubella?
