Not everyone likes open bathrooms, so you could plan it in a way so it could be closed off in the future if you ever sell the house.

I agree with having the option to close off the bathroom if needed. Perhaps a floating wall setup would be ideal.

Completely agree with the two comments above. As for the plan, I think that you would have more usable space to work with by using the second floor plan. This is the one that I will be keeping in mind while thinking about some ideas.

Psychologically, it is a more secure feeling and restful sleep space if the bed is placed so the occupants can look at the door. The bed should also always be the focal point when one enters a bedroom. Neither layout allows for that, so I think some windows need to be removed. If you have a great patio/view/garden outside the sliders, leave them and take out the large window opposite the door to make space for the bed there. If the large window makes some statement on the exterior of the home that you don't want to lose, leave it and replace the two sets of sliders with single glass doors spaced to allow room for the king bed between them. With the open bath concept, the multiple windows are makeing for just a little too much openness and lots less privacy. Agree to plan for future closing of the bath as it will hurt the resale value and you may tire of it very quickly if you're not already accustomed to living with this sort of plan.
