You need to make your desires less confusing.

Grilling is a dry cooking method with the heat applied from below. Grilling applies grill marks, and is the cooking method of choice in 99% of steak houses.

Broiling is a dry heat method of cooking with the heat applied from above. No grill marks.

So, if you want an indoor gas grill, several companies make great ones: Bluestar, DCS, GE Monogram, and more. Wolf's is very hot, but is on/off, which weighs against it. With an indoor grill, you need a large, powerful vent hood to handle the smoke.

If you want a great broiler, you need gas with an infrared broiler. These operate around 1800 F, which is screaming hot. Again, lots of companies make these.

Sorry for any confusion- I do outside grilling- but do not want an inside grill- too messy-
- i thought a broiler would provide a closer result because of the higher output- and would be less messy

Any suggestion for the maker of the gas infrared broiler you mentioned- thank you very much

I believe DCS, American, Bluestar & Wolf all have infrared broilers. I imagine there are others too.

As eandhl said, all the pro-style ranges have infrared broilers. I can vouch for the one on my DCS range - it's terrific - I get lots compliments on the steaks that I broil - of course I do use high quality meat!

Thanks for the input- the choices are overwhelming- I am looking into the Bluestar gas wall oven double 24's as well- the range seem more cost effective but the convenience of broiling at chest height is also nice- American also makes a gas oven with a large broiler-
