I'm not sure I understand but I think you would wanna start working on finding the prints the day you decide you wanna build. There's no reason to delay and its a big step. I think your the only who can answer your question regarding the timeline, it depends on how much you wanna save and how fast you can save it. Other than a down payment and some savings to bridge the gap between start up and bank draws the rest would be your preference.

Thanks for responding . To clarify, we are working on plans now and plan to be done with them in next few months. We would like to build in say, 2 years or less if possible . For anyone who's gone the o/b route, how far before your build did you start getting estimates to know the cost of the plans your building ?
