Can't do ogee on 2cm marble backsplash?

We are getting 2cm carrara marble contertops with the same used for the backsplash. Our marble fabricator said that our marble is too thin to safely do a decorative edge detail (was hoping for ogee)on the backsplash. He said it could only be done on a 3cm piece since marble is too soft and a 2cm piece could crack (although he said he can do the ogee edge on the main countertop). He said the best he could do is an eased edge or bullnose. Does this sound right to you?

Did you use marble and, if so, what was the thickness? I will assume that you were able to do a more decorative edge?
