After 2-3 months, the gas in a fireplace that hasn't been used wont light until it's been purged out and fresh gas is available.

If you push on the gas valve and put a match right in the pilot gas, you'll probably see the match flame being blown by the gas coming out of the pilot burner, but not lighting.

Push down on the gas valve continuously for 5-6 minutes to purge the gas from the line. Then wait 10-15 minutes for the accumulated gas to disperse from the fireplace.

Then try lighting it again.
