Ok..after months of research, and several estimates for both new heat and a/c, I need opinions on what I have narrowed down..

Contractor #1: (really liked, did all manual calculations)

Goodman: Furnace: GMV950704CXB 2stage/variable speed

69,000btu-95%-Lifetime warranty-exchanger

10 year parts/labor

A/C: SSX160241A 2ton 16 SEER

Coil: CAPF3636B6

Lifetime warranty-compressor 10yrpart/labor

= $6645/$4595 After rebates

Amana: Furnace: AMV90704CBX 2stage/variable speed

69,000btu-95%-lifetime warranty

exchanger 10 year parts/labor

A/C: ASX160241A 2ton 16 Seer

Coil: CAPF3636B6

Lifetime warranty compressor 10yr part/labor

=$8025/$5975 after rebates

Contractor #2:

Lennox: Furnace: G61V 2 stage 95%

Contractor #3:

Goodman: Furnace: GMV95704CX Variable speed

69,000btu 95%

A/C: SSX140241 2ton 15 Seer

Coil: CAPF3636C6

=$5480/$3530 after rebates

York: Furnace: YP9C060B12MP11 Modulating speed

60,000btu 95%

A/C: YCJF24S41S1 2ton 15 Seer

Coil: FC24B3XN1+TXV

I have a 950 sq ft rancher w/basement in South Jersey...I'm not looking to break bank, but don't want

a low quality system...

The 2 quotes for Goodman are similar, there only difference is 14 or 15 Seer....Really..how good/bad is Goodman? I've heard mixed things..Also, is a modulating furnace the same as a variable speed, and is it any better? Also, I've been quoted @ $1000.00 for an air filter..is this right? Some quotes threw in a free air filter...

Any help in this decision will be gratefully appreciated...

Jill...
