Trane Electrical Requirements

I am going to have a Trane 5ton Heat pump and Air Handler (Hyperion series 7) with heat strips installed. I know it needs a 30amp and a 60amp circuit but does it need to be 2 or 3 wire - a 10/2 and 6/2 or 10/3 and 6/3? Am getting a good deal on copper and want to buy now while I can.

Speak to the licensed electrician that will be hooking all this up!

How can you rely on anything someone says on the web when it comes to the safety and security of your family and home with the scant information provided?

Look up the specs on the equipment. If 240 volts (it may show 208/240), the two conductor plus ground is fine. If 120/240, three insulated conductors plus ground are required.

Condenser, air handler, and heat strip should be placed on separate circuits.

FSQ offers the best advice. I would want to know what is code.

FSQ - totally agree and don't just take things willy nilly. I just thought if someone was familiar with the Trane AirH Hyperion line, then they might know.

I have a 60a for heat pump, a 60a for heat strip, a 15amp for elec air cleaner, and a 30amp for a/h. All are separate circuits except for air cleaner that shares.
