Can a water heater be removed and reinstalled?

I have a Bradford White Hot water heater that is about 8 yrs old. It is 50 gal nat gas and still works fine. We are getting a tankless installed as part of energy upgrades. I would like to sell this old heater myself rather than have it go to a landfill or something. I put it on Craigslist and have phone numbers of 2 local people who might want it. (I require phone numbers to help weed out scam emails.) We live an hour from the beach, so some people might want it for their rentals.

My question is, CAN a water heater be removed and reinstalled successfully? Is there anything to watch out for? I have listed it "as-is" and will allow people to come to my home to verify it is working before it is removed. Are they taking a risk that the removal will somehow break it?

Remember, not everybody can afford new things and might be grateful to get this at a much lower cost than new.
