Has anyone in Houston used HD for their Corian installation?

There is a huge difference is pricing because HD sells Corcian by the ft. With an individual company I would have 1/2 of a slab left in my possession due to directional graining with an L-shaped layout. I want a Corian from their private collection so at $60 sq. ft. that's a hefty amount. So far, I've only found one recent review, and it was a 1-star. Upon calling their fabrication company to speak with an installer, he spoke Spanish only and a translator was used. They seemed vague as to when I would sign off on the template, but it seemed to be when they came out to measure, that it would be done then. The KD at my HD says she sells Corian so rarely that she cannot give feedback regarding the quality of their installaters. I have an inside corner so am concerned at this point.

Although I am in OH so I can't comment about HD out in TX, I purchased our Corian through HD. I was concerned about which fabricator they would use but when I found out who it was it turned out to be probably the best fabricator in our area. I was so relieved to hear that. There was no offer of signing off on the templating but when I requested to see the templating layout they emailed me pics that I could approve...or not.

We have 2 L shaped sections of countertops so I know exactly what you are talking about regarding the directional graining. We chose Witch Hazel but in the end we decided to go with a mitered corner because I didn't want the graining to run front to back on the smaller section of the L's...hope that makes sense.

Which color/pattern did you decide on?

I worked for a fabricator who did Corian installations for Home Depot. We did excellent work. I wouldn't worry about it.

i am in upstate ny and hd here has a horrible rep for granite(fabricator is 3 hours south) but for solid surface they use a local fabricator that is very good. a contractor told me that his customer got a cheaper price from hd but ended up with the fabricator she liked.
i would ask where the hd fabricator is located. it seems that if it is a local company it ends up better than when they contract from hours aways

A big thanks to all of you for the reassuring comments. You've gone a long way toward calming my jitters. Ardcp, HD uses a local fabricator who serves the entire Houston area. Dcward89, I'm using Ecru which by some miracle appears to be an exact match to my Kraftmaid cabinets, Biscotti with Cocoa Glaze. This reno is library cabinets in the family room. Granite was used in the kitchen. By the way, your Witch Hazel is a beautiful surface.
