yes, me. I can't help at all because this is one of those things everyone tells me is fine when it drives me crazy. I didn't get a new disposal or flange in the new set up, mostly due to decision fatigue, but will work on it once the chaos has died down.

Ask around at plumbing shops to be sure, but if a replacement flange is not too expensive, I would use my scissors and cut one slice into the flange, about 1 inch long. Then that part will fall open with the weight of the water and may do the burping for you. If it is a disaster, get a new one and start again!

I had a very stiff flange with my ISE also. It has really loosened up/ I throw it in the dishwasher often so I think the heat has broken down the rubber. It should improve but you could speed up the process with stretching it out a little.

We've got the same exact problem! Haven't gotten desperate enough to cut the rubber thing, but I'm thinking of putting it in the DW right now!

I emailed Insinkerator regarding this, and this is their response:

"May we ask if what you mean is that water accumulates on the rubber gasket found on the sink opening and would not drain easily? If so, this would be normal. The Evolution Compact has the Quiet Collar Sink Baffle that blocks noise that comes through the sink opening. It is specially engineered to use running water to create a damn at the sink opening. It's like putting a cap on the disposer.
Hope this helps."

Uh, no, it doesn't help. The water still backs up even though I've read your explaination ; Q

I've asked if they have a regular "non quiet" baffle.

Yup, same here. We have a smaller one with the new kitchen (because we have less under-cab space now with the farm sink). My contractor cut slices in the flange, which helped, but it's not perfect, and it drives me bonkers. Would love a better solution! I guess it's somewhat comforting to know it's not just me being difficult ;-)
