My wife and I strongly prefer warm white (2700-3000K) over bright white (4000k+) for all applications. Last month I bought a 5000K replacement LED screw-in bulb just to give it a try and we found it intolerable. YMMV.

Our contractor initially put the 5000K bulbs in our hallway and it was awful - the light was blue. It looked like a morgue. We've since replaced them with 3000s and like them much better. Our kitchen under-cabinet lighting is also 3000.

In addition to color, might you choose something dimmable? LEDs can be very bright.

I prefer 3,000K warm light. I can even tolerate 3,500K. I bought a fixture that was supposed to be 3,000K but it is 4,000K and way too blue. I am stuck with it now. My recessed LED bulbs are all 3,000K and the room is so warm but not too yellow. It is similar to the color of a halogen bulb which I always love the light that type of bulb gives but not the heat.

It's totally user preference. There is no right answer. Personally I prefer daylight (5000K) bulbs, but the rest of my family HATES them.

Whatever you do, make them all match. Also with LEDs many have crappy CRI values, try to get as high as possible.
