St. Augustine is my very favorite city and you are so fortunate to have this historic bungalow, it's beautiful. I would hate to see this porch screened in but are you allowed to put some decorative fencing of some sort in the yard to keep the dogs safe?

yes we could fence but our concern is the passer's by now stop to look and talk to dogs from the street the closer they would be to street with a fence we risk someone getting too close to them. 1 is blind and she loves sitting out there listening to the carriage horses clop by...It's all about the dogs..Thanks for your nice reply

Looks like your expen is a 48 incher. I am assuming your dogs are not six pound Yorkies. You would be surprised at the number of times dogs get through screens. You might want to rethink the screens and either put a kennel run in the back yard, investigate an underground system or a GPS system

3 huskies, we had a fully fenced back yard but they like to lounge on front porch and watch the carriage horses go by.. They are escape artists we felt this would be an additional barrier..

Ah.....lolololololol.....Huskys staying put???!!!! That is like asking our Brittanys not to escape. We have hot wire top and bottom to keep our kids in. The Border Patrol is not an option then...your kids would go through, nice thing about it is that the kids don't get a shock when they come home. you could put a small portable kennel on the porch. let me find the one with the top. BRB.

I think the super screen comes in rolls big enough to make panels for the porch.

My twelve pound dachshund chewed through the screen in our pool cage. I had the bottom replaced with a "dog proof" screen. It is stronger. Can you build what looks like a period wooden framed in porch, but build it behind the porch posts? It's really about the door, I would think. (For historical purposes. And if you add horizontal planters of flowers on either side, I think they may be happy. (The historical committee, not the dogs. They can look out the door area.)

We are a 2 husky & 1 Samoyed house too! For them all about the lounging areas.
