I've been hunting for a sectional for a while. I found one that I absolutely LOVE! Only problem is it would stick out behind the half wall about 5-6 inches...it wouldn't be in my way...just a visual thing...should i go for it? or is that a big no no...any suggestions to make it look ok?

Depends, picture and floor plan would help-but in general Usually this will not work, looks like something THAT DOES NOT FIT.

Can you have the wall altered to ge a few inches longer than the sofa?

Does the store that sells the sectional have a different configuration available that will not stick out? You DO NOT want your sectional sticking out. No sectional is worth that.
