Taxidermy?

Something simple will do the trick, I wouldn't overdue it. A few nice vases on the ledge, id' just put a few on the right side facing in your photo for a little asymmetrical flair

i'd go with a painting, or tapestry, as the ledge isnt so deep to block the view. something with a clear design best viewed from a distance.

even a quilt mounted on stretchers, traditional or modern design depending on what you like best.

I agree with ignoroing it. I do think the green accentuates it, so I'd repaint it white.

It's just interesting architecture but doesn't need accessorizing. I'd ignore it.

I might consider painting it white to elevate the feeling of the stairwell and open concept rooms. I would not decorate the ledge.

I do not always understand why architects think this type of area is useful. Go to Great Big Canvas to look for a wall peel (like a wall mural) to apply at the highest point of the wall. Something within the décor of your home or just ignore it.

I don't think you need anything either. But, maybe a different accent paint color? Depending on your style, you could put a large manzanita branch as art? Or a fun, dandelion decal?

Here is a thought...dandelion decal and have the little dandelion pieces "blow" into the larger space. I this would be fun and a conversation piece starting with.."I LOVE the dandelion up there!". :)

Does it go all the way around in to the kitchen? And is that the dining room underneath the ledge, or going into the dining room? I need a little more pictures to say for sure, but I would definately not ignore it!

HI -- I usually say to leave it bare but you could have fun with this this . A photo mural of sky and birds or tree tops , whatever is your whim. But to set it off , do some "up "lights on the ledge , if you leave it bare or not .

If attention is to be drawn to it a painting, if not ignore it.

I think some sort of (hidden) rope lighting that follows the entire length of the ledge would look really cool when turned on. Maybe a textured type of wallpaper on the main big wall - with the ambiance lighting would look very sleek, functional.
