Maybe it the rug wasn't white it would show better. Too much contrast there, I think. What do you think?

What a charming floor. It could be many things, hard to know w/o seeing it in person. It could be ceramic pieces set in thin set or even linoleum. Perfect for a sun room, I would keep it!

It's ceramic pieces. I was hoping to find other rooms showing the same floor but can't find the right term to call it. This is a house we are buying and I'm looking for other decorating ideas. I love the floor. Some people have told me "clay and mortar" or "terracotta" but I still can't find similar decorating photos.

Here is link to a discussion on it and there were some commenters that seemed to be very familiar with what it is. Seems that people either love it or hate it. We have only run into it once in a MCM home.
