I agree with Debra. Here's an example: I dug up Siloam Plum Tree Daylily this summer, dirt and all, and set it aside, unsure what to do with it. It thrived very well without replanting for 3 months!

Thanks! Since we'll be replanting as soon as we can, we'll just keep them with the dirt. One other question: should we go on & trim the foliage now or wait until we replant?

Trim them when you dig them up would be my suggestion.

Clean them well, pack them in paper bags with damp shredded paper and they will last for months in the frig. (It, of course helps if you have an extra basement refrigerator.) When I used to sell bare-root daylilies at a Farmer's Mkt. the ones that didn't sell each week got this treatment. Only after three weeks in the frig. did the foliage start yellowing. Then I would mark them way down because of course, they would take off once planted.
