How would you describe the color currently? Are you going to install a rug, and are you going to do anything to soften the appearance of the boulder rock wall?

Right now I'm not sure I would paint the coffee table. Not everything has to match.

Beverly how would you suggest I soften the rock wall fireplace? this is something that has bothered me ever seen we have lived here... something just isnt right about it. We would like to remove the mantle and put in a cedar block...and the black part annoys me but not sure what to do with it. I would love to hear your input. Darzy, I was actually thinking of doing this to the coffee table...removing the glass and replacing it with slats of stained wood....

That's a good idea removing the glass and installing wood top!
