water hammer arrester installation

Hello,
we had a water hammer issue in pipes that were recently plumbed in the ceiling (As they had leaked in the slab). our plumber has installed a water hammer arrester to mitigate the problem but the arrester is facing down.
the water hammer noise is gone but i wanted to check if installing it inverted is wrong and can lead to issues in long term? thanks
