Buy a door with 2/3 glass in the top of it for light and pattern.

This door is modern which your door is not but it has elements you can adapt to your entry. Pot lights in entire walkway to door. Low light on lower wall that can be under a bench to light area, one sidelight although I think a glass door would be a more cost effective choice, Lit up house numbers and schrubs that are away from the house.

Paint entry side walls lightand back wall dark to add contrast interest and to brighten area. Again pot lights in entire entry area to remove cave appearance and have them on motion sensors and light sensors so the area always looks welcoming.

It looks like a trip/fall hazard the way the doorway is not flush with the surface. I would consider building a wood porch over the cement steps that is flush with the doorway. It will also look better of course too.

The new door with side lights would be more welcoming and would bring natural light into the entry hall. Right now, it looks as like a construction shot before the porch is finished: the door is much too high above the current top step. It's a trip hazard.

Wow, that looks like a cave. When you install the new door, could you move the wall closer to the front of the house (and turn the new inside space into a vestibule)?
