Other than a redo of the stain on the treads, banister and posts, your down to a carpet stair runner that pulls in colour from either the walls or the wood floor.

If you plan on using an area rug in the entrance way, you could match your runner to the area rug for some form of cohesion.

Sadly, the stain is too dark for the wood floors. A stain that is about 1/2 as dark would have worked MUCH better. The banister and posts would have to be reworked in the same stain as well. A mid-tone would have worked...but ebony is too much for this space.

Thanks! unfortunately a runner is not something i'm interested in since I ripped out the old stairs to get away from carpet. The color is actually Rosewood but much darker than I desired. I'm so disappointed in this project, what a waste! But at this point I guess I need to determine best colors for an area rug to minimize the visual disconnect.
