Need help - Décor ideas for this tall feature wall

We have a wall separating our living room and family room , it has a fire place on either side. Just so the living room does not look boring I am planning to make this wall a feature wall transitional style. Any suggestions on what kind of décor I can have on the wall , may be a fire place remodel? We are painting the living room stone hearth by bm which is greige ish.Any suggestions will help. I have no clue where to start on this... thanks a lot .

For the fireplace base I would 1-square off the rounded side. 2-paint the mantel piece a contrasting color. 3-Pick a stone/material to lay from the floor to under the mantel, creating a linear wrapping element. Similar but not exactly like this photograph.

For decor, definitely pick one or few very large pieces mixed with some medium, human scale pieces. (see below)

And I actually like that fireplace for your space as well, you don't have to change the box though, the stone could do the trick I think.

yes, seems like you are having work done, and i would consider taking away the round corner. also i would fill in that niche with drywall, to give you an even space to hang an amazing piece of art.

Thank you downbytheriver and Patrick, great inputs. Yes we are having work done but almost done with it so might be phase 2 but definitely got me thinking.

Square off the corner, fill in the niche, change out the fireplace opening and select art that runs the length of the column.

The Yorba Linda room - I had looked at her method: seems she bought 2 or 3 metal pieces and placed them together. Good idea.
