Unless you have a white kitchen, stainless will be best for resale.

Stainless is pretty timeless and tends to increase perceived value.

Get what YOU like, it's impossible to predict what prospective buyers want & even more difficult when you're talking 8 years from now.

Get what you like. In 8 years buyers will likely think that your appliances are old and will figure on replacing them anyway.

White looks especially good with mid tone wood cabinets.

Stainless. Never becomes an eyesore...

I think stainless is not a trend it's a style. i would choose what you want and not worry that far down the line. new buyers may gut your kitchen or at least reno it to their style. they will view 8 year old appliances as old/dated anyway

My kitchen cabinets are white; I am replacing my appliances as needed. My interior designer and sister who has helped me through many moves recommended to stay with white appliances because my cabinets are white; I like white appliances; I have no plans for moving; some stainless steel is hard to keep clean; whoever buys my house can choose their own appliances. This is my advice to you.
