Tub apron or tile

I'm trying to decide whether to tile the area around my master tub or use a tub apron. Does anyone prefer one over the other? I really like the tub apron look as I feel like it breaks up the tile, but I read somewhere that maintenance can be a headache (it starts to peel, etc.). I attached a couple of pictures to show what I'm talking about in case this doesn't make sense.

The selection rather depends on the rest of the room. The apron seems appropriate if you have wainscotting or a vanity that can be matched to the design. If you cannot, then tile seems appropriate. The wood is often supplied because of needed access to a tub motor.

Personally, I wouldn't want the maintenance of the wood apron in a bathroom.
