That is a feast for this Easter. Now I have to see if these might be available here. I have just the tree. I'm assuming these are once-bloomers?

If anyone finds a source for these in the US, will you please post it here? I know someone in zone 5 with a tree that really could use one of these.

There is a Rosa helenae in the UC Berkeley Botanical Garden, which they keep fairly tightly pruned, grown as a large shrub. Otherwise, it looks as though it would be quite large. Love those photos, mariannese.

R. helenae itself is a nice plant: I have it covering a shed down in the bottom of the garden. Is it as cold hardy as its offspring?

The species helenae is as cold hardy as its seedlings. It seeds easily and there are several good selections of its natural hybrids in commerce in Europe. Aksel Olsen and Starkodder are widely available here. All are once-bloomers. There is also a remontant variety, Christine Hélène, found by Christine Meile in her garden in Germany, probably a cross with Ghislaine de Féligonde. If I had the space for another helenae I would try it. because it's thornless like Lykkefund. Hybrida is extremely thorny and I've had to move it for my own safety. I also have to keep it within bounds for the neighbours' sake.
