Hello. Thanks for your question; this custom residence fireplace surround is constructed with large hot rolled steel plates with a waxed mill finish. It's 10 gauge thickness and fastened to framing with very discreet screws.

Thanks for the response! The fireplace looks great. I'm also interested to know how you attached the floating mantel.

The floating mantel was drilled out and placed on 5/8" threaded rods that were attached to the wall. I think the spacing was about 8" o.c.
