Will your bedroom doors be painted or stained? I would match your other bedroom doors.

What color are the rest of the doors? What color are the walls?

Are you going with a dark stain, natural? Lots of factors. I don't think it's inherently wrong to paint the door and have wood trim.

Why do you want to match the wall color though? Are you trying to make the door disappear? If so, it won't with the wood trim.

It would help to have a better understanding of what your purpose is...

The entrance door to the bathroom will be stained knotty alder same color as the trim, and I didn't even think that it might be best to match the two doors in the room. I think I just want to have a painted door somewhere in the house :) The stain won't be too dark, but knotty alder tends to be dark even with a clear coat. And the bathroom walls will be a creamy white, so there would be plenty of contrast.

Well if the other door is alder, I would stick with it for the pocket door, personally. Maybe you can paint your front door or the door to the garage :)

Stick with stained doors, so they all match. Painting the color of the room, will not be a good look.
