Cabinet imperfections

Hi guys. I'm excited yet a bit disappointed.

My lower cabinets were installed yesterday. YAY!!! However, I'm not too pleased with two things.

The installer was cutting some wood on top of my island and ended up scratching the top of tilt-out sink drawer.

This will be hidden by the coutertop. Should I be asking for a new front? Or if they suggest just touching it up, would that be ok? I'm worried about long term problems with it being in a wet area.

Also I have some open shelf cabinets. They have face frames. On one side, the joint between the cabinet and the face frame is perfect. On the other side the gap is larger and I can see the glue. In some places the glue is oozing out. The installer didn't seem to care much when I pointed this out.

Did you pay for damaged cabinets??...I doubt it!

I would be more concerned about the face frame that's already gaping or coming off.

Have them fix it properly.

Yes the scratch from the installer needs to be fixed. The glue oozing out is unacceptable.

Let the installer install, and stay out of the way. You only piss the installer off my constantly hanging around and pointing things out.

After the install, do a walk through with the installer and make a note of what needs to be fixed and also give that list to your designer. No final payment until job is complete.

The dealer's first response was "we'll remove the excess glue".

I'm pushing back. The face frame doesn't have a uniform gap on all sides. You can even see my fingers through the gap.

Scratches happen i don’t think that alone I’d make a big deal about. The other issue yes I’d be making sure they had plans to fix it before they’re done.

The other question....why are they using glue (looks like hot melt) to hold your face frames on in the first place?
