Check out the Maryland Building Industry Association mbia.org . Their montgomery county custom builder chapter gives annual awards to architects and builders for different categories of custom homes from classic, transitional and modern 3,000 to 10,000 sq feet and gives you their direct websites where you can see what they build and contact them directly.

I would avoid using some of the websites which claim to match you with a builder because they get a large commission from the builder and you can bet that cost is passed though.
