Design Dilemma Bathrooms

Recommended silicone sealant for Swanstone shower walls

We're installing Swanstone shower walls. They are supplied with XtraBond 250 100% RTV color-matched silicone sealant for the visible components but require additional sealant to adhere the walls themselves, to cement board+Redguard.

XtraBond 250 is presumably good to use BUT isn't widely available, whereas XtraBond 150 IS. The 250 looks to be acetoxy-based whereas 150 is neutral cure, and there is conflicting info online as to the suitability of these alternatives. Any advice on what to use? Swanstone specifically says NOT to use GE brand. Thanks in advance

As you say, online FAQ (https://swanstone.com/en/services/faq), under “What adhesive should I use for installation?”, it notes “Note: GE brand silicone is not recommended.”. ”We recommend 100% silicone only” is their answer to the question you ask.

IMHO, call them and ask? Why trust Houzz for the answer if you don’t trust the manufacturers FAQ’s? Additionally, you need to call the manufacturers of the other products and ask the same question, the resulting answers may be simple, complex, or incompatible.
