Drill new holes in the headboard?

I had to use the modiplate and drill new holes into the wooden frame.

if that doesn't work, you could attach the headboard to the wall and just push the bed up against it. (I can't tell from the photo, but you might need a different kind of frame for that, if this one doesn't work freestanding.) an added bonus is that with a freestanding frame is that if you or your kid wants to change their taste, the headboard can go.

I had considered that but was hoping not to be “stuck” with the location choice in the room. My daughter is only 2 so I’m sure there will be loads or redecorating and reorganizing to come!!🤣🤣

You could fill in the holes with a wood epoxy and just drill new holes.

edit: are the legs of your frame height adjustable? if so, you don't need to fill with epoxy at all. I'll post instructions soon.

this would work if you can adjust the legs on the frame. (or even set furniture glides under them to raise them up. they only need to be a few mm taller.) this way, the new hole will be so far from the old one, no need to fill it with epoxy.

It's the frame that needs to be raised up a little -- but I get what you're saying! some frames have adjustable legs, but if not, use small stick-on furniture glides like these.
