I'm finding that most of my tomatoes have thick skin this year and I think it's due to the heat.

The heat has been hard on tomatoes this year in 6A.

I have yet to get a red tomato. The first to set fruit have been growing and green for well over a month now.

Just took a walk in the garden today, and with temps finally dropping below 75°F at night (more like 55) they can finally turn red.

Just keep them watered.

I'm finding a lot more thick skin this year than usual, too, but I don't think it's the heat (because this year is cooler than most of the last few years have been in my area). I think it could be the high UV index we've been having pretty consistently, this year. 6 or 7 used to be a pretty common high for a given day in previous years, but this year it seems like most days it's 9 or 10. The rest of the country's has been up, too, for the most part.
