Growing from Seed

I am trying to germinate california sycamore, platanus racemosa

i found some seed pods on a tree nearby, its seeds were opening up and its september. I took a few and broke the seed pod up and planted the seeds in some good potting soil. they still have not germinated and its been 10 days. do they need stratification?

Yes. Cool-moist stratification for 30-90 days at approx 40 degrees, then bring to closer to 70F for germination
