it may be shutting down for the season due to heat. I know my ornamental cherry trees (Yoshino, Okame, and maybe Kwanzan - it is so far back on the property that I don't see what the leaves look like in late summer) drop all their leaves in August usually but return the next year to bloom like any other year.

Keep it watered through its first couple of years during heat waves and drought and it should be okay. I never had a dwarf peach but had an ornamental peach at one time - it never bloomed the colors I bought it as (peppermint) so I finally cut it down and went back to growing what grew well for me.

I am North of Beaumont and my peach trees are losing the majority of their leaves. Due to stress from hurricane they are also starting to bloom, which is bad.

Trees start losing their leaves this time of year due to shorter day length, even if weather is not cold. With that amount of disease in the leaves they are going to fall even if it was earlier in the year. I would not worry too much. The tree may even try to put on fresh leaves before we get our first frost.

Peach trees lose leaves. If the stem starts drying out, that is when to worry. Probably best to just make sure you water correctly and it should leave out next spring.
