Stair nosing for Congoleum Duraceramic

We've put Congoleum Duraceramic LVT in the basement and up the stairs to the main level. The installer tells us the nosing we planned to use, a solid curved metal that's kind of attractive, won't work with the Duraceramic, that he just had to tear out an entire Duraceramic stairway because the nosing made the tiles crack. So he's proposing a more flexible nosing. Haven't seen it but it sounds pretty ugly, has a bit of traction on the top and nails in from the top so you see the nails. Blech. Anyone have any experience with a different nosing on Duraceramic? Thank you!
