What kind of wood is this?

I recently bought a 1920s bungalow in Portland, Oregon. It is a small 2-bedroom and very sweet. It had not been taken very good care of, but the good news in that is that it still has all of its original details -- just under many layers of paint!

I am doing some experiments to explore the possibility of stripping and refinishing the trim in the bedrooms or public rooms (living room, kitchen). The trim doesn't look too fancy but the rest of the house is original, so I assume the wood must be old growth fir, redwood, pine or oak.

In the attached photo, you can see the grain. It is kind of pretty - reddish with a sheen to it. Does anyone have any idea of what kind of wood this is? And if it is worth it to strip off the rest of it?
