Thanks! Yes we saw the installation requirement in the manual. I was addressing any knowledge out there regarding whether they still can be mounted as a wall mount, by contractors in the know. sometimes the manuals are just deciding how far their warranty goes and doesnt tell the whole picture.

@Tom Morris we are looking for the same, so I'd love to know what you land on. Right now I am leaning towards the Duravit 1930 series but it doesn't have as much "counter" at the sides as I'd like. It does allow for either a wall-mount or pedestal installation, though.

We have a very small basement bathroom and bough a narrow sink (home depot) with cabinet under . Obviously not much space but enough to store a few items and it looks great . We also did a built in medicine cabinet for extra storage

I think the struggle is going to be trying to achieve decent surface/counter space on any 24" sink. This model is actually smaller (and the curves may not be what you're after), but it's an option: Wall Mounted Sink

I'm personally partial to the curved lip detail on this one from Rejuvenation.

I'd also suggest attempting to gain some counter space via a shelf above the sink/under the mirror if possible. You can use it to store items that tend to remain on the counter (toothbrushes, soap dispensers, etc.) to keep the sink itself clear for when it's in use.

Duravit D-Neo 31-1/2" Rectangular Ceramic Wall Mounted Bathroom Sink Model: 2369800000 has space to the left or right. Nameeks Scarabeo sinks are available in various sizes...if you're willing to go modern.

@wdccruise: Yes exactly correct. Sink hangs over the radiator & its cover on the right side. For now, we want to keep that radiator, even though i told my wife we might not need that heat in such a small room.

As for the 31” Duravit, unfortunately we cant go wider than 24/25”, as there is a toilet immediately to the left. 🤷‍♂️ But good call.

@JP L: Thanks for those suggestions. If not for our wish list for top surface area, the ones you linked to have great aesthetics and contours. My hunch right now is we will end up choosing either the Kohler memoir with pedestal, and just find storage space on the walls and above toilet, etc., OR we will choose something like that Duravit 24” and use the space underneath for small storage area.

@Clari DG: Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, even that vanity is too wide to fit, given the radiator issue. To fit a vanity, we would probably have to go as small as 17” wide wide, and so far at least, we dont want to get a tiny sink. Ahh, the perils of small bathrooms !

Add heated floors and get rid of the radiator. Multiple problems solved.

Suggestion:

1. Replace the tall radiator with a low one such as this 8"-high model.
2. Hang a wall-mounted vanity and sink which can extend over the radiator.

For a wall-mounted sink, the sink must be centered on the drain pipe, the drain pipe must be the right height, and the supply valves must be equidistant from the drain pipe and the same height. Otherwise the pipes which that will be visible will look wacko.

For a pedestal sink, the drain pipe must fit within the column and the supply valves must be in the correct positions.

Ever wonder while photos of wall-mount and pedestal sinks don't show the pipes? Because they look crappy! I considered replacing a vanity with a pedestal or wall-mounted sink. The pipes were a mess which the vanity had hidden. I just replaced the vanity.

Do you — or anyone else on here — know how much it costs to install electric (not hydronic) underfloor heating? We have maybe only 25 square feet of bathroom that isnt already covered by the tub. We live in Maryland. The floor tiles are already going to be pulled up and replaced.

The warming wire is $279, Ditra-Heat is $100, thermostat is $205, and there's electrical conduit, cable, junction box, possibly a new 120 volt circuit, mortar and other supplies, and labor.

25 x 12 = $300. I don't think so.

I’m just trying to square those numbers with the numerous Google results stating anywhere from $10 to $15 per square foot total. My best sense was this included parts and labor. I’d also gotten the sense that the work was very straightforward, and that the materials weren’t the thing that added a lot to the cost. Is there something about Schluter that makes them much pricier? Are they that much better? What am i missing here? It seems like these Google results are way off base.

• Home Depot sells SunTouch mats and other products described in the article. Or course you would still need the thermostat w/sensor, wiring, possible additional circuit, mortar, and labor. But perhaps this is a cheaper way to go.

• Product details for the mat say, "Heat-up times are generally 30-45 minutes for framed floors, slabs take longer". Would you plan a shower 30-45 minutes in advance to get value from the product (I don't know how people use this; maybe they leave it on all the time)?

My best answer will come from our contractor, of course, but they are still finishing up parental leave so in the meantime ive been asking around.

I hate to be that person who breaks bad news to you, but in my experience those internet estimates of how much projects cost (along with the ROI calculation - don't get me started) are well intended but horrifically inaccurate.

@JP L Yeah, ive now figured that out. lol. Its funny, because our quote for replacing and installing the actual floor tiles was pretty in line with what the intermet had predicted. But I sense that for a radiant flooring project there is a lot of flux and variability with materials, work involved, etc.
